HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR WORK?
My work mixes the use of the traditional by using oil paint or pen with the more childish by using crayons or felt tips.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
Colour!
I get so excited when I imagine a colour that I want to mix up and use.
People's faces are so interesting and weird, the shapes that make them up, the small triangle in the corner of their eye, the semi circle above their eyebrow.

“My work is very autobiographical. I respond to funny or strange things people say to me: ‘Do you know what comes up when you google your name?’ or ‘You’ve defiantly got artist's hands.’ Most of my works are titled with these. ‘Female artist’ is an eye roll to everyone that’s followed my name with that title. I’ve never heard or seen david hockneys name being followed with ‘male artist’ so I don’t get why people do it to women.”
HOW LONG DO YOUR ART PIECES TAKE TO PRODUCE?
I like to get a piece finished quite quickly and usually don’t like stopping until it’s finished. I get too excited to see the final image. I’ve only got one piece that I threw underneath the bed because I didn’t like it. I pulled it out a year later to test a new colour crayon and scribbled all over it. It turned out to be one of my favourite pieces.
WHAT’S THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE YOU HAVE FACED IN PURSUING A CAREER IN THE ARTS?
It’s an expensive job being an artist. You’re faced with opportunities you might not be able to afford. Even with exhibiting your work sometimes you’re told you have to pay first to have your work considered which is madness when you’re starting off and have just invested your money into materials.

IF YOU WEREN’T AN ARTIST WHAT ELSE WOULD YOU BE DOING?
I want to have my own gallery/studio and teach artists the things your not always taught like how to find spaces and how to do taxes when you’re self-employed.
